(20 min.) Accurate Validation of Critical Alarms – Testing Switches & Seismoprobes via Shaker Table

Marco Peres, Product Manager, The Modal Shop, Inc. Stu Alqaissia, Application Engineer, The Modal Shop, Inc.

Description

A shaker table is used to test and validate the proper operation of vibration switches and moving coil velocity transducers over a wide frequency and amplitude operating range. The method is used to test a broad variety of vibration monitoring heavy devices that are either too large or too heavy for testing using a traditional portable calibrators or hand held 1g shaker devices. Electronic vibration switches and seismoprobes are widely used to accurately monitor vibration levels and protect critical assets such as motors, pumps, and fans employed in industrial environments.

Takeaways
1. How to test vibration monitoring sensors
2.  How to validate the machines assets are being protected by such devices
3. How to check alarms, avoid false alarms and properly set up thresholds.
